[30 Jun 2008|04:19pm]

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

extreme self-pampering. [13 Mar 2008|12:45am]

I am turning my thesis in on Monday and I want to get a massage sometime later in the week as a treat to myself. I am pretty much willing to pay anything for a full body [but lots of emphasis on back/shoulders] massage. Maybe even toss in a few hot stones, I hear that's all the rage.

I know Aveda [the Douglas J training institute and I think the real salon on Liberty] both offer massages. I have also checked up on the Relaxation Station on S. First.

Does anyone have any advice / recommendations? I might be in the market for a facial, or manicure, as well.

Spring and Summer Sublet [18 Mar 2006|05:27pm]

I’m subletting a 1 bedroom in a 2 bedroom apartment from May until the end of August 2006 (I'm estimating to be moving back in the week of the 28th). The apartment is fully furnished: the bedroom has a full size bed, a dresser, a desk and a chair, with a huge closet; the living room has a sofa and futon (and obviously, a nice TV with a DVD player). One full bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen, and a balcony attached to the living room. Located in the apartment building on the corner of Hoover and Brown. One block from the North/South Commuter bus stop. Very close to the IM building. Free wireless internet and laundry. Rent will be (approx.) $500/month including utilities. If you want any more details on this place, call me (Kirsten) at (734)658-2526 or email at kirstenr@umich.edu. :)

Hi, my name is Tony, and I'm looking for a reasonably priced sublet that will allow two people to one room or has two cheap rooms. If you are the current resident of such an establishment and are planning on subletting, please let me know here, or at arobbert@umich.edu. Thank you very much!

residency [31 May 2005|12:17pm]

hi, I'm a new member attending U of M this fall I and have some questions about residency. my boyfriend lived in wisconsin until our sophomore year, but he's followed all of the suggestions to get residency, severing ties with wisconsin, etc. however the residency office is still denying him in-state residency. we've talked to a residency officer, but all she had to offer was some very circular reasoning, with no real reason they had decided to consider him out of state other than, "well it's really a bunch of little things". SO has anyone had any experience with this, or no anyone who had problems getting residency? I know michigan is very anal about this so I'm hoping for some tips, or information, or anyone who has had trouble with this. I'd really appreciate any feedback :)

retroactive credits for languages [15 Feb 2005|06:01pm]

[ mood | annoyed with stupid advisors ]

so, i don't konw if anyone else was told that if they took certain language classes and got a B or better, they would get retroactive classes, but i was. my advisor made it sound like as long as i took the class and got a B or better, i would get the credits... well, today i went and checked my transcript and i hadn't gotten them for last semester still, so i went to the lsa website and looked around a little. apparently you have to fill out an application to get them. i figured some other people might want their credits, too... :-)

Hey guys...an applicant here

Quick question do any of you know how they accept/reject applicants? Meaning- do they first accept everyone they need, put aside people they MIGHT accept if they have room, and if they don't have space. they start rejecting students (wow I hope that made sense :-P)....or do they accept and reject as they go along.

Thanks for your time!

art history? [06 Dec 2004|02:56pm]

Has anyone taken any art history classes this semester? For some reason, everyone I've talked to has said that art history classes are hard so I'm wondering what your opinions are. I'm considering taking histart 103 (Arts of Asia) winter semester.

it's that time of year again... [06 Dec 2004|12:33pm]

Just signed up for academic suicide!

Eng 225 - Ohrstrom
Spanish 320 - Hesp
Spanish 335 - Nixon
Theory 140 - Dietz
Theory 150 - Dapogny
Italian 103 - Palaich (?)

English 225 will be dropped like a hot potato if I get this one piano performance studio that will put me over the minimum # of credits for the Honors College.

I'm transferring into the School of Music next year so Eng 225 is a requirement there (might as well get it over with) and I'm in the theory classes as well. Spanish will be my minor; might as well start working on that too. 320 is cake. 335 will be hell but it's Honors Literature and Ideas...better than Great Books 2. Marginally. And I'm Italian, so I figure I should start learning the language sometime, and it won't be easy to fit into my schedule while I'm in the Music school. yyeeaaahhhhhh.

Anyone else in these classes?
